Playoffs Information
Aug 6, 2010
While standings have not been finalized in the HSL, and will not be until after last games of the season in some cases, playoffs are fast approaching and teams need to be prepared. As final standings become clearer, we will be slowly updating the playoff schedule with team name and game locations.
Click here to go to the Playoff schedule.
Teams need to be aware of and be prepared to play a playoff game ANY night of the week that playoffs begin. While we strive to always have one days rest between games, field availability and even weather MAY make this impossible. And with games all in one week, it also means that teams/players may only get a 24 hour notice on where their next game is. Some teams/players may find it difficult to make games, with players not available, etc. BUT this schedule was determined at the start of the season and was communicated to all clubs/teams. We have NO OPTION here to move games. If teams cannot field a team as shown in the final playoff schedule (minimum 7 on the field for a full game as per league rules), they will lose by forfeit.
Some important notes about Playoff games...
- The League pays the game officials for these games, but the "home" team must still provide a game sheet.
- The game results must still be reported but in playoffs the league rules require game reports to be faxed in (or scanned/emailed) on GAME DAY (same night!)
- Any current suspensions carry forward into playoffs (no suspensions carry into Provincials unless they involve Misconduct Hearing decisions).
- All games need a winner declared so if required, a 2 x 15 min overtime will be played (full duration played), followed by penalty shoot-out if required.
- GAMES BEGIN AT 6PM TO ALLOW FOR THE EXTRA DAYLIGHT THAT MAY BE NEEDED IN THE EVENT OF EXTRA TIME.
You can find the more info about playoffs and full league playoff schedule ONLY under "Playoffs"-"2010 Playoff Schedule-Results" on the website (not under "Division Schedules" or any other league schedules).
A REMINDER THAT THIS IS DRAFT ONLY AT THIS TIME SO DO MAKE PERSONAL PLANS AROUND THIS SCHEDULE. Be prepared to play ANY NIGHT during the playoff week!
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR TEAMS ARE ALL WELL AWARE OF PLAYOFF OBLIGATIONS, SCHEDULE, AND GAME TIMES TO AVOID ANY CONFUSION OR DISAPPOINTMENT.
